Broos: I don't see another player that can replace him

Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos has offered an explanation on why he opted for Stellenbosch FC attacker Devin Titus as the replacement for injured Mihlali Mayambela.

Bafana are gearing up to take on Uganda and South Sudan on Friday, 15 November and Tuesday, 19 November respectively.

In his preparations, Broos has been dealt a blow with several senior players ruled out of action due to injuries.

These include Themba Zwane, Lyle Foster, Sphephelo Sithole and Percy Tau.

The latest casualty was Mayambela, who had to be replaced just a day before the squad assembled for camp.

The Belgian mentor has picked Titus as the replacement.

The 25-year-old has contributed three goals and two assists in 17 appearances for Stellies thus far this season.

He was also one of the standout performers in the league last term, registering 12 goals and four assists across all competitions.

"I think when you see the performances of Devin and Mayambela is injured, I don't see another player who can replace [him]," Broos told journalists on Monday, when asked about the choice.

"He played a very strong season. He scores, he's very quick and can dribble players. He is a very dangerous player. You can't say anything bad about choosing him.

"If I need him, I am sure he will help us. But I am sure of it because he has a certain talent and that is eliminating a player, scoring. So, he can help us if we need him," he continued.

Meanwhile, Bafana need three points to guarantee their qualification to next year's AFCON, although Broos has insisted that his side will be gunning for all six points from the two encounters.

The match against the Cranes will kick off at 15:00 (SA time).
