Tau Forced to battle for Al Ahly Future?

Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller is reportedly set to hand Percy Tau and another teammate a fresh opportunity to prove their worth after the current international break.

This decision comes as the Egyptian Premier League resumes following the duo's limited involvement since the start of the season.

Tau found himself benched for the Red Devils' opening two league encounters, appearing only as a substitute, with his bounded participation fuelling speculation around his future at the club.

The Swiss tactician is said to have favoured the in-form pairing of Taher Mohamed and Hussein El Shahat, who have recently shone in the team's attack.

According to Youm7, Koller's coaching team are intent on giving the South African and his Moroccan teammate Reda Slim more chances for two primary reasons.

Firstly, they aim to implement a rotation strategy to "reduce the physical and mental toll" on the core squad and reduce the risk of injuries.

Secondly, they are said to be planning on assessing the duo's performance to determine their long-term futures at the club.

Tau, in particular, is believed to be at greater risk of departure, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The Cairo-based outfit currently have one slot available for a foreign player, and club officials are reportedly eager to open up a second.

It has further been claimed that the side are looking to recruit two overseas talents – a striker and a winger – to bolster the squad as they gear up for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
