CAF set to put their heads together over R18.1bn investment

The CAF Executive Committee, led by president Patrice Motsepe, is set to discuss a massive $1 billion (R18.1 billion) investment into African football.

CAF has confirmed that Motsepe and his executive staff will embark on a trip to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations host countries: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Among other things, the trip is aimed at assessing the progress these nations have made in preparing to stage the tournament in 2027. The African football organising body is expected to be briefed on the readiness of the stadiums, infrastructure and other facilities for the showpiece.

Motsepe will visit Tanzania next month, where he will also discuss the investment of R18.1 billion in the development of African football over the next eight years, according to CAFOnline.

Before that, however, Motsepe has a planned trip to Morocco this week, where he is also set to attend the draw for the 2024 CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat on Friday, 22 November.

The next day, 23 November, he is scheduled to attend the CAF Women's Champions League final in El Jadida, where Royal Army will face TP Mazembe.

Elsewhere, the date of the draw for the men's 2025 AFCON is yet to be confirmed following the conclusion of the qualifiers this week, during which 24 teams secured their spots in the competition.
