A former Jomo Cosmos star has announced that he is vying for a top role in Zimbabwean football.
Former Cosmos footballer Alois Bunjira has revealed that he is set to run for a position in the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).
The ZIFA Executive Committee election is scheduled to take place on 25 January 2025, with the nomination process having recently been opened.

Bunjira, who has previously represented the likes of Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns, Free State Stars and Cosmos, announced his intention to compete in the election.
According to Soccer24, he wrote on Facebook: "My focus has now shifted to the ZIFA elections in January. I collected my nomination papers yesterday (Friday) (and) also did the police clearance yesterday.
"Submission is on Monday. Let's do this, guys. Zimbabwe football really needs fresh ideas and a new lease of life."
Bunjira's intention to compete for a position at ZIFA is nothing new, as he has been vocal about wanting a role in Zimbabwean football administration for some time.
Earlier this year, the 48-year-old former midfielder came under criticism after complaining about a tackle on his son, Junior Bunjira, during a match in the Zimbabwean top flight.
A well-recognised pundit in Zimbabwean football, Solomon Manganyi, blasted Bunjira for complaining about the tackle on his son, questioning how he would be a good candidate in the elections if he could not control his bias.
"You once talked about contesting for the Zimbabwe Football Association presidency, but with what you wrote there, you may not qualify because you have shown that you are conflicted towards where your attachment is, when in actual fact you are supposed to understand the ups and downs of playing football as a former footballer yourself," he said.
"That was uncalled for from people we look up to for the development of our football."
