For all the former players and coaches in the domestic game, Carlos Das Neves is one of a few that was able to strike the perfect balance between football and studying.
Das Neves largely spent his career at Hellenic, where he played from the '80s until the 1999/2000 season.

Past his playing days, he even led Vasco da Gama as head coach through the only season that they spent in top-flight football.
All this done from studying for a Bachelor of Commerce – BCom Accounting and Related Services at the University of Cape Town.
"I left Vasco da Gama in June 2011 and after that got involved in the administration side until the status was sold to Stellenbosch FC," says Das Neves, who is now financial manager at Worldsport South Africa and financial director at Worldsport Arabia.
"You must know that I was never a full-time coach even when the team (Vasco da Gama) was in the PSL.
"I have always kept my job, and my involvement in the game now is to watch my son playing for Vasco da Gama's U14.
"I went to varsity while I was still playing in the top league and played against (Mamelodi) Sundowns on a Sunday before an exam on Monday.
"So, I would study in the plane, and this is why I'm a chartered accountant today," says the 56-year-old.

"I do watch football every now and then, but to be honest, it is not something that entertains me.
"If Marumo Gallants is playing Sekhukhune United or TS Galaxy is up against Royal AM, then I will rather watch Netflix.
"I do sometimes watch when the Cape Town teams are playing, but I don't identify with many of the new teams popping up from everywhere.

"There are a lot of new teams in our football that were not there when I last coached in the PSL just over 10 years ago.
"My son plays U14 for Vasco da Gama, and I enjoy playing golf twice a week," says Das Neves.
