'He has a big chance to go to AFCON with Bafana'

Head coach Manqoba Mngqithi believes one of Mamelodi Sundowns' rising stars, who has come into the reckoning almost unnoticed, could very likely be heading to next year's Africa Cup of Nations with Bafana Bafana.

Sundowns reclaimed top spot in the Betway Premiership standings with a convincing 3-0 win over Sekhukhune United on Saturday evening at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

While goal scorers Iqraam Rayners, Arthur Sales as well as an own goal from Sekhukhune's Tresor Tresor Tshibwabwa Yamba would steal the headlines, it was 20-year-old Khoza who stood out for Mngqithi.

So much so that the former Golden Arrows coach is convinced that young Khoza will be at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations - which Bafana have already qualified for.

"I'm very happy with Khoza," Manqoba said in his post-match interview on SuperSport TV.

"I think he's developing into something big, and I can tell you now, if he continues the way he is, he has a very big chance of going to AFCON with the national team.

"I have no doubt."

Mngqithi may be not be far-fetched in his assessment as Hugo Broos has already shown a willingness to give youth a chance.

Khoza's teammate Thapelo Maseko was among the youngest at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast and was named among the best young players on the continent.

Orlando Pirates' Relebohile Mofokeng has also recently enjoyed a run of appearances in the national team.
