An African nation has confirmed that their head coach has resigned from his role due to non-payments.
With the FIFA international calendar only set to resume in March 2025, many nations across the globe are on a break.
However, not all national teams will be enjoying a rest, as Kenya are scheduled to compete in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in February 2025.

The tournament, which only allows locally based players to participate, is set to be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from 1 to 28 February next year.
Kenya, however, now find themselves in quite a predicament just two months before CHAN. The Harambee Stars head coach, Engin Firat, has decided to step down from his role due to not receiving his full compensation.
The Turkish tactician took over the reins in September 2021, and his contract was expected to expire in June 2026. However, he has now vacated the role just less than a month after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
"Football Kenya Federation (FKF) acknowledges receipt of an official resignation notice from the Harambee Stars head coach, Engin Firat, submitted earlier this week," reads a statement by the FKF president, Hussein Mohammed, on the organisation's official website.
"In the spirit of transparency and accountability to Kenyans, who remain the greatest stakeholders in football, FKF finds it necessary to address this development through an official statement.
"We assure the public that FKF is committed to addressing this matter promptly. Following internal consultations with relevant stakeholders, we will announce the way forward regarding the national team's technical leadership.
"The coach's resignation is linked to pending arrears, an issue the Federation is actively working to resolve. While we aim to secure a replacement within the shortest time possible, due process and thorough internal deliberations will guide our actions.
"We understand that this transition may create some uncertainty around the national team. As we continue to rebuild Kenyan football after challenging times, we reaffirm our commitment to providing stability and progress for the Harambee Stars.
"Further updates will be shared in due course."
