Man Utd suffer back-to-back PL defeats

Manchester United suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League after a 2-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day.

Man United made two changes to the team that lost heavily to Bournemouth, as Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund were brought in places of Tyrell Malacia and Joshua Zirkzee.

Ruben Amorim's charges burst forward with pace in the early exchanges but they did not have the final product in the last third.

Wolves were up to the pace set by United and looked to capitalize on counter-attacks and on 25 minutes Nelson Semedo almost broke the deadlock with a deflected shot from the edge of the box that spinner awkwardly just wide of the scrambling goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Vitor Pereira's troops were enterprising going forward, particularly Matheus Cunha, who caused all sorts of problems for The Red Devils but the hosts also did not have finishing touches, as the sides were deadlocked at half-time.

United had a horrible start in the second stanza, as two minutes from the break, they were reduced to ten men after Bruno Fernandes got a second yellow card and was red-carded for a dangerous tackle on Semedo.

Wolves made their numerical advantage count on the hour-mark after Cunha broke the deadlock with a direct corner that floted over Onana into the far post.

Amorim eventually made a double change after that, one tactical, as Antony replaced Yoro and Casemiro came on for Kobbie Mainoo to solidify the midfield.

The Red Devils had a sense of urgency and pressurized Wolves in the closing stages, as Alejandro Garnacho also replaced Amad Diallo for fresh legs in the upfront.

Wolves did not sit back and made things difficult for United, who had to commit numbers and Hee-Chan Hwang secured the three points for Pereira's men deep in added time with a tap-in into the top corner after he was setup by Cunha from a counter-attack.

The Red Devils were left lying 14th on the table.
