Bafana striker set to join Rulani at Wydad?

A Bafana Bafana striker could reportedly be joining Rulani Mokwena at Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.

According to LeSiteSportInfo, South African striker Lebohang Mothiba is closing in a move to the Red Castle.

Mothiba has been without a club since parting ways with Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

The report claims that the 28-year-old was spotted at the Arab Zaouili ??Stadium as Wydad suffered a heavy defeat to Maghreb de Fes on Saturday evening.

Mothiba would be seen as a direct replacement for Mbaye Niang, who surprisingly left the club last week despite only joining in the off-season.

Wydad president Hicham Ait Mena recently revealed the club plans to strengthen their squad in the January transfer but did rule out negotiations with Al Ahly duo Percy Tau and Reda Slim.

"What was rumored about contracting with the Al-Ahly duo, Egyptian Reda Selim and South African Percy Tau, is not true, and we did not negotiate with either of them," the president told Radio Mars.

"We brought in a significant number of players last summer, most of whom joined the system of coach Rulani Mokwena, and we will strengthen the human structure with some elements in the winter transfer period based on the coach's needs."
