Nabi: If I was afraid for my job...

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has discussed whether he's fearful for his job with the side's inconsistent results spilling over into the new year.

Chiefs have not won back-to-back matches since they triumphed in their first two games of the season back in September 2024.

They could not kick on again following a 1-0 win over Chippa United on 29 December, after they were edged 1-0 by Cape Town City on Sunday.

Reflecting on his six months in charge, Nabi feels they have made progress, in spite of the inconsistent results telling a different story.

The Tunisian tactician says he will continue to be brave in instilling an attacking football model at the Soweto giants, instead of playing for results by parking the bus or playing counter-attacking football.

"It's been six months and we feel that regarding our game model, the team has changed, especially in how we play. The inconsistency of the result doesn't help," Nabi told reporters in a post-match press conference at Cape Town Stadium.

"But if I was afraid for my spot (job), if I wanted, I could play a mid block, play defensive, look for counter-attacks with Ashley Du Preez, who is very fast, and getting the result like that.

"But is it the DNA of this big club? No, we want this big club to play an attractive football, attractive football means a lot of risks too.

"We have to build on that, we have to believe on that, we're gonna continue to improve every day," the former AS FAR Rabat coach added.

Amakhosi will have no time to lick their wounds as they are back in Betway Premiership action against Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Nabi's charges remain in seventh spot on the log.
