Qatar SC add 'unusual clause' in Tau's contract

With Percy Tau being unveiled by Qatar SC on Monday, it is now reported that the club have inserted an unusual clause in the South Africa star's contract.

Tau's move to Qatar SC has been announced after his departure from Al Ahly was confirmed by his former boss Marcel Koller this past weekend, with the 30-year-old closing the chapter on three-and-a-half years in Cairo.

It was reported that Tau underwent his medical on Saturday after arriving in the country's capital, Doha, the day before.

According to reports, the forward took part in individual training on Sunday while the club are working on registering him.

A report by Qatari newspaper Al-Arab claims that Tau has signed a six-month deal with Qatar SC.

It is also claimed that his contract includes a clause stipulating that his deal will be extended by two seasons if he impresses during the remainder of this term.

Tau is not the only former Al Ahly player on the books of Qatar SC, as his ex-teammate in Cairo, Ahmed Abdelkader, also joined the club on loan at the beginning of the 2024/25 Qatar Stars League.

Tau is tipped to play his first game for the club on Friday, 17 January, when they take on Al Nasr in the final of the United Arab Emirates Super Cup.
