African star in the spotlight for 'punching journalist'

Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen finds himself in the midst of a controversial situation after a reported physical altercation with a journalist.

With the Yellow-Reds set to take on Konyaspor in a Super Lig encounter on Saturday, a bit of the focus on the match has been taken away after the situation between the Nigerian striker and a reporter escalated.

According to Turkish reports per Soccernet.ng, a group of photographers were attempting to capture the Super Eagles star as he was leaving an entertainment venue with some of his friends.

However, it has been claimed that the situation quickly escalated from a verbal altercation to a physical one.

Tolga Bozduman, who claims that the striker attacked him, shared his account of the story.

"I filmed Osimhen at the door with three of my colleagues. When the flashes went off, all hell broke loose.

"He ran towards me, screaming. He tried to take my camera away from me, but I didn't let him.

"The punch he threw hit me in the head. My right side still hurts. He then started swearing.

"Then he offered, 'Destroy the footage, I'll give you money.' When I refused, he threatened me by saying, 'I'll destroy you.'"

Both the club and the player have thus far not issued any official public response to the claims made by the journalist.
