With Paul Pogba searching for a new club after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, a coach has now explained why he turned down the chance to sign the French star.
Olympique Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi has opened up about the club's stance on Pogba, revealing that while interest existed, signing him was ultimately ruled out.

The former Juventus midfielder will be eligible to return to football next month after serving an 18-month suspension for testing positive for the banned substance DHEA.
His initial four-year ban was successfully reduced on appeal.
Pogba has been a free agent since parting ways with Juventus last year, and speculation has been rife about his next destination.
Reports have linked the 31-year-old with a potential return to Manchester United, where he previously had two spells, the latest ending in 2022 when he re-joined Juve on a free transfer.
OM chief Mehdi Benatia had previously admitted that the club had explored the possibility of bringing Pogba in for the end of the season. However, De Zerbi has now explained why an earlier move was not on the cards.
"The balance in the dressing room is crucial, and no one can disrupt that while I am coach," De Zerbi stated per Tribal Football.
"That wasn't the issue, though. Pogba is a top-quality player, but we had to carefully assess where he would fit when he is available to play—what role, what position."
The Italian coach made it clear that the decision was based on several factors, including tactical considerations and timing.
"The more world-class players in the squad, the happier I am," he added.
"But for now, we have made this decision after a thorough evaluation.
"Things could change in the future, but at this moment, this was the best choice for the team."
