Real Madrid ‘furious’ about Antony decision

Real Madrid are reportedly furious about the lifting of a ban on Manchester United loanee and current Real Betis star Antony ahead of their LaLiga clash this weekend.

Real are set to face Betis on Saturday, with Carlo Ancelotti's side looking to claim only their second win in their last four league matches.

In recent weeks, Los Blancos have expressed some discontent over some of the refereeing decisions that have not gone their way.

The club was notably outraged when their star Jude Bellingham was slapped with a two-game suspension after he received a red card against Osasuna on 15 February, where he was accused of swearing at the referee.

Real appealed the decision, but their application to scrap the ban was rejected by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

With the decision having been upheld, Bellingham missed Real's previous LALIGA tie against Girona, and he will miss the upcoming match against Betis.

To rub salt in the wound, the Madrid giants reportedly now feel further aggrieved by the fact that Betis star Antony will be available for the upcoming match against them despite having been sent off in their previous game against Getafe.

Betis appealed Antony's ban, and the RFEF overturned the decision, making the Brazilian winger available to play this weekend, which is said to have angered Real.

A source close to Real told Diario AS: "In their eagerness to go hunting against Real Madrid, they are skipping even the legal arguments.

"Removing a red card that has been clearly assessed by the refereeing body and well explained in the minutes is as if the judges from now on are going to re-referee the matches.

"They don't hold back, they have done it with the desire to hurt us. They have declared war on us and use all imaginable means, even if they expose the very referees they claim to defend so much."

Antony has played four matches in LaLiga since joining Betis on loan in January, registering two goals and two assists, according to Transfermarkt.
