The Portuguese tactician sparked outrage with his remarks about the home side, particularly those on the Galatasaray bench, saying they were "jumping like monkeys" at one point in the game.
He also did not hold back in his criticism of the Turkish referee's performance, adding fuel to the fire.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has now announced Mourinho's punishment, confirming that the former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager will serve a four-match touchline ban and pay a €40 000 (around R815 000) fine.
According to the TFF, per Gamereactor, Mourinho's comments were deemed "insulting and offensive" towards Turkish football, the referees, and the overall integrity of the game.
The statement further explained that his punishment consists of two separate bans – two games and a fine of €3 000 (R57 700) for insulting the fourth official, and another two games alongside a €39 000 (R760 000) fine for remarks deemed "contrary to the ethics of sport and fair play," which could incite violence and disorder.
Mourinho, who took charge of Fenerbahce earlier this season, is no stranger to controversy and has built somewhat of a reputation for his outspoken nature.
