Clarity has been provided on why two penalty appeals were waved away during the Sundowns v Kaizer Chiefs clash, with one of the incidents similar to a controversial Soweto Derby call.
Sundowns tightened their grip on the prospect of an eighth consecutive league title with a 1-0 win over Chiefs at sold-out Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
Lucas Ribeiro settled the tie with a first-half strike straight from the streets of Brazil.

The match was not without controversy as both sides saw their penalty appeals waved away by match referee Olani Kwinda.
Reviewing the game on SABC Sport's Soccer Zone, former FIFA referee Victor Hlungwani explained why the two incidents were judged as no penalties.
"We will start with Sundowns' penalty appeal. [Edmilson] Dove and Lucas Ribeiro [Costa], we see Ribeiro taking the ball," Hlungwani explained, while looking at TV replays for reference.
"They are in the penalty area and there is now contact between the two of them. If you look at it, you can see a hand that is holding. But FIFA has taken into consideration that... We are still talking about the impact on the player's ability to take control of the ball."
He then addressed a second incident.
"You can see [Pule] Mmodi, he beats [Khuliso] Mudau and Mudau makes contact. But does this contact have the ability (strong enough) on Mmodi to take the ball?
"You can see that there is no impact. Mmodi has full control of the ball and what he does with the ball is he takes a shot and unfortunately he misses.
"You can see that Mmodi does not even complain, he gets up and goes on with it."

Some may argue that the Mmodi-Mudau incident was similar to that of Relebohile Mofokeng and Njabulo Blom during the Soweto Derby on 1 February, from which Bucs were awarded a penalty.

"Remember that Blom was coming from behind, he made contact (from behind)," Hlungwani further distinguished.
"When he turns him, that's what the impact comes in. If there is no even turning, turning the player has an effect on their ability to play the ball. That is a big difference."
