Magesi coach points out Chiefs problem

Magesi FC head coach Owen Da Gama has hinted at how he is going to approach the match against Kaizer Chiefs, while also letting slip where he thinks they could hurt the Soweto giants.

The Limpopo club has touched down in Johannesburg to face Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Chiefs have displayed inconsistent form since the season started and are looking to avoid finishing outside the Top Eight for a second successive season.

The Soweto giants will be hoping to showcase their 'bouncebackability' following their latest defeat against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, while Magesi come off a surprise 1-0 home win over SuperSport United.

The relegation-threatened side's coach, Da Gama, is under no illusions about the task that awaits them at the Calabash.

"Remember, we played against SuperSport in the cup and gave other players a chance, so over the weekend we had a very good idea of how they play," he notes.

"The technical team planned very thoroughly. We didn't allow any crosses or penetration.

"But that's not the approach we're going to take against Kaizer Chiefs because they are a different kettle of fish. They have some very dangerous players, and we need to plan accordingly.

"Chiefs are wounded, and teams like that are very hard to play against. A team that has just lost two games is always going to be a tough opponent. But we will fight until the end," added the veteran mentor.

Da Gama noted that the Glamour Boys' left-back position has been their biggest problem so far this season.

"They have played well against Sundowns, but there's inconsistency in some of their positions, particularly the left-back position. They have used three different players there, Bradley Cross, Happy Mashiane, and Njabulo Blom. Now they have Edmilson Dove.

"So, I assume Dove will be the one playing tonight.

"To be honest, we will be happy with anything - a draw or a win."

Kick-off is at 19:30.
