Sundowns legend: I hope Mofokeng keeps it up

Mamelodi Sundowns legend Ernest Mtawali has praised Relebohile Mofokeng for his outstanding performance on Sunday.

Mofokeng shone at FNB Stadium during the Betway Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Sundowns, netting two goals in the opening five minutes.

The 20-year-old winger has now scored four goals and provided six assists in 19 Betway Premiership matches this season.

Mtawali believes Mofokeng has all the qualities of a future star.

"He's shown a lot of promise; he's done well, and I hope he continues to stay humble and work on his game," Mtawali stated.

"I personally feel that for a young player to reach that level and maintain such performance requires a great deal of discipline and humility.

"He needs to constantly work on his game because he looks the part, but maintaining that consistency is never easy.

"I hope the boy keeps it up, though."

This is not the first time Mofokeng has left Sundowns supporters disappointed.

In May 2024, he was again the hero at Mbombela Stadium, scoring a brilliant late winner to help Pirates lift the Nedbank Cup following a 2-1 victory over Sundowns.
