FIFA has raised the total prize money for the competition to an astonishing $1 billion (R18.3 billion), which considerably surpasses the prize money offered for the most recent FIFA World Cup.

The football governing body has indicated that all 32 teams participating in the prestigious club football competition will receive R1 billion each, however, they have yet to formally announce how much the champions will earn.

According to European journalist Ben Jacobs, the Club World Cup winner is expected to get prize money in the region of $100 million (R1.8 billion). The journalist has also asserted that UEFA teams will receive a larger amount due to a higher entry payout.

Africa has four nations represented in the Club World Cup, specifically, Mamelodi Sundowns, Elias Mokwana's Esperance de Tunis, Al Ahly, and Wydad Athletic Club, which are coached by South African coach Rulani Mokwena.

With a reported $2 billion (R36 billion) expected in revenues, FIFA reserves will remain untouched and a portion of the money generated will also be dedicated to club football from across the globe.

"FIFA will not keep a single dollar," FIFA president Gianni Infantino revealed.
