In this edition of "In The Spotlight," KickOff chats with former Moroka Swallows midfielder Lefa Tsutsulupa.
Tsutsulupa does not wish to be young again to play with the current generation; he feels he has played enough football and is entirely satisfied with his career.
Growing up, who was your idol?
"I never had one. I was busy running around. Televisions were scarce back then. I remember we would watch the TV next door and pay 50 cents to watch a match, [laughs.]
Was there a player you modeled your game on?
"Not at a young age, but it happened later when our TVs started showing some European teams. But locally the first players I knew were the likes of Serame Letsoaka, Vilakazi, and Steve Komphela at Free State Stars."
Your favorite team?
"Kaizer Chiefs. They were my family's team, so everybody followed them."
Your best friend in football?
"I didn't have one. Just colleagues. My best friend was still playing amateur football. I was close to my colleagues, but they were not people I would share my personal life with."
Your favorite player in South Africa at the moment?
"Themba Zwane, for the way he always affects results."
If you could join any PSL team right now as a player, which club would it be?
"I don't actually wish to go back to playing football; I feel like I have played enough. I was never a substitute; I was always a starter. My time has passed; it's up to the younger generation now."
Have you ever cheated in football?
"Yes, I've dived many times, and that's how far my cheating goes in football."
If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would you go?
"South Africa is the best place in the world. The weather is great, the scenery is amazing, and our country is beautiful. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else."
