According to The Publisher Online.com, Kola lost his temper at the end of the match and aggressively approached and thrown stones at the referee after he was shown a red card while he was on the bench.

It is said that the incident occurred during the Sharks' Division One League 1-0 victory over Swedru All Blacks United in February 2025. According to Pulse Ghana, following a session of the Disciplinary Committee, the GFA has imposed a one-year suspension on Kola.

Alongside the one-year suspension, the committee has cautioned Kola that any future misconduct could lead to more severe penalties, which may include a lifetime ban from Ghanaian football.

Additionally, the Sharks have also faced a charge for not managing their players and fans adequately during the incident. The club has been granted the opportunity to appeal the ruling.
