Chiefs star: I know I need to do more

Pule Mmodi has addressed Kaizer Chiefs' recent scoring struggles, with just one goal scored in their last three league matches, ahead of the fixture against his former side Golden Arrows.

Chiefs will be aiming to end a run of two matches without a victory with the pressure cooker on at this stage of the season.

The inability to find the back of the net on a consistent basis has been the Achilles heel for Nasreddine Nabi's men. Mmodi, one of the men tasked with helping locate the back of the net, has offered his assessment of the situation.

""I think, to be fair, we've been playing good football, but we need to work on winning games and scoring goals," admits the hard-running winger.

"As a forward player, I know that I need to contribute more in terms of goals. We strive to win all the games that are remaining and give our best."

In his defence, the 32-year-old has been one of the better performers in the team, contributing four goals and one assist in his 18 appearances. However, he only recently started breaking into the starting XI and had become a forgotten figure in the first half of the campaign.

"At the beginning of the season, I faced challenges adapting to the new coaches and staff. However, I think for me to be on form at this time of the season is because I have been working hard and improving where I was lacking.

"For me, it's all about hard work. Each time I play, I give all my best for the team because it's only for 90 minutes so, as a player, you just have to give all your best and after that you will see the good results."

Mmodi may get his next chance to make a goal contribution when Chiefs take on Golden Arrows on Saturday. The match will be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Kick off is at 15:30.
