Chiefs midfielder: ‘My heart has always been here’

Kaizer Chiefs midfield workhorse Thabo Cele has spoken with passion about his time at the club after completing two months reporting to Naturena.

For all the signings that Chiefs have made in recent times, Cele has been a perfect fit in central midfield.

The 28-year-old joined upon the end of his stint with Russian club Fakel Voronezh, which came after spells in Portugal and Poland.

Joining the Soweto giants was always bound to happen for Cele, who had been linked with a move to the club for a while.

"The environment, the people that I found here, the teammates, the technical team," he says of his smooth transition at Naturena.

"And also, I think, my heart has always been here.

"So, with me, I have been working for my own individual dreams, but at the same time I think it is something that was always going to happen for me to come here.

"So, I feel good that I'm here and here to try and help the team so that we can achieve our objectives as a team and achieve for the club," says Cele, adding on the need for a positive mindset for the rest of the season.

"After this space of observation, thinking and going deep into our own minds and hearts, I feel positive for the next game.

"We are working very hard trying to put in some new things into our game.

"The objective remains the same, which is to win our games, despite the difficulties that we have faced.

"The positive mind is what we are trying to share amongst ourselves because it is football.

"It is life, you fall and you rise, so that is how we look at it and trying to feed that fire for the next game because we need it," he adds.
