Pirates humble Stellenbosch, Downs drop points

Orlando Pirates 3-1 Stellenbosch FC

Orlando Pirates jumped into fifth place in the DStv Diski Challenge with a 3-1 victory over table-topping Stellenbosch FC on Saturday.

The victory also halted the Maroons five-match winning run and reduced their lead atop the standings at the moment too.

It's a fourth straight win for the Buccaneers who saw Siphamandla Msezane, Neo Mokoena and Puleng Bapela get them over the line, while Tauric Gamildien was on target for Stellies.

Mamelodi Sundowns 0-0 Richards Bay FC

Mamelodi Sundowns title ambitions slipped further from their grasp following a goalless draw against Richards Bay FC out at the Tuks Stadium.

With the draw, Masandawana are now five points adrift the pace-setters and fellow title-chasers Stellenbosch FC who went down to Orlando Pirates in the day's other action.

Similarly, the Natal Rich Boys lose ground amongst the top-half and consequently have their position in the top eight now in the balance.

TS Galaxy 5-2 Cape Town City

TS Galaxy steady rise to the top-half of the standings continued after brushing aside Cape Town City 5-2 down at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga.

City's inconsistent run of form continues though remain in the top eight and couldn't build on last weekend's hard-fought victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.

For Bernard Parker's men, it's back-to-back wins that jumped them into the top eight and just three points adrift the self-same Citizens.

Marumo Gallants FC 4-0 Polokwane City

Marumo Gallants FC moved off the bottom of the table following a resounding 4-0 victory over Polokwane City out at the Dr Molemela Stadium.

The win pushed the host within two points off Rise and Shine on the table, and in addition ensured successive league wins too as City's topsy-turvy form continues.

Chippa United 1-3 Golden Arrows

Chippa United's woeful run of form continued and slumped to the bottom of the table after succumbing 3-1 to Golden Arrows.

Abafana Besthende were fired up from the get-go and took a two-goal cushion at the break through a certain Sfundo Shezi.

The Chilli Boys attempted a response afterwards, but the visitors grabbed total control as Lindani Ndelu netted the decisive strike and ensured the maximum points
