Ex-Chiefs duo resurface at PSL club

The former Kaizer Chiefs duo of Sibusiso Mabiliso and Kgaogelo Sekgota among several players under assessment at newly-promoted Magesi, KickOff has gathered.

Having secured automatic promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Champions ship, Magesi are aiming to start strong in the topflight, with the season set to get underway in August. Such that, the recruitment process is in full swing.

While many players have been linked with a move to the side, like Andile Jali - who ended up at Chippa United - it's now emerged that Mabiliso and Sekgota are the latest big names close to finalising a move to the club.

The former has been a free agent since parting ways with AmaZulu FC in December 2023 after bizarrely featuring just twice for them. The season prior to that, he played just four times.

Similar was his situation at Chiefs, where he played just six games.

Still only 25, Mabiliso has plenty to offer and a newly-promoted outfit like Magesi could provide him just the right amount of game-time to rediscover the form that made him one of the most highly-rated defenders in the country.

Like Mabiliso, Sekgota had a less-than-memorable spell at Amakhosi, where he registered just two assists in his 49 appearances and left without a goal to his name.

At Stellenbosch FC, he seemed to find his footing, even if scoring just once in 17 appearances, but that spell was short-lived and he was released. The 27-year-old has been out of competitive action since December last year.

Other faces spotted at Magesi include former TS Galaxy man Nation Ndlovu, ex-Sekhukhune United duo Sello Motsepe and Lebo Mabotja, as well as Wandi Lebitso.
