Nine games away from the end of the League marathon, the Azziz Kara-owned team has opened a healthy seven point lead over second-placed Dynamos in the First Division Inland Stream, and at this stage FC AK will only have themselves to blame if they don’t go on and finish at the top of the standings.
“Our main aim is to finish at the top of the league,” declares Akan.
“The cup is secondary to us because if we lose one game then we are out. There is more to gain in winning the League than wanting to fight against PSL clubs in this cup. Thus our number one focus is on the league and strengthening the team for the Premiership campaign. I have young and hungry players who still want to achieve things in their careers.
“By winning the league we will have made the club president happy, but he is not putting any pressure on me though as the target is within reach.
“If we continue winning games in the cup and progress then it is fine because players will also be getting their winning bonuses,” says Akan.
