Struggle continues for ex-Downs left-back

Sifiso Ngobeni's time at AmaZulu FC has come with little joy in his pursuit of minutes just over a year since he arrived at the club.

Ngobeni initially joined AmaZulu in January 2024 after struggling throughout his time at Mamelodi Sundowns.

In his first six months with Usuthu during the second half of last season, he only played twice, starting in games against Cape Town Spurs and Sekhukhune United.

However, with Sundowns widening their options with the addition of Asekho Tiwani, it then paved the way for Ngobeni to continue in Durban.

The 28-year-old stayed, according to what AmaZulu have confirmed to be a permanent transfer.

Instead of progressing, Ngobeni has only played 31 minutes in the league this season.

Those minutes have been spread over three substitute appearances, leaving him as a back-up option for Namibian international Riaan Hanamub.

His only start this term has been in the Nedbank Cup when he put in a full shift against Mighty Eagles.

As it stands, he has now played in only six matches from the 38 that Usuthu have played since he arrived.

Ngobeni's time at Sundowns was largely a struggle, which led to him moving to SuperSport United on loan.
