Khumalo comfortable with PSL transition

Khumalo joined Matsatsantsa from Tuks University and, despite suffering an early set-back with a knee injury, he has now started the last four games for Gavin Hunt’s side.

Keeping the likes of Siboniso Gaxa and Simphiwe Mkhonza on the bench, Khumalo put in a solid display against the Urban Warriors, nullifying the threat posed by Terror Fanteni with the result that Matsatsantsa earned themselves a point from the 0-0 score-line.

“I was happy that we kept a clean sheet; for the defenders that is always like scoring a goal,” he tells Kick Off.

Khumalo says that he has found there is not much difference between playing in the First Division and the top flight and did not find much difficulty in keeping one of the league’s top strikers in Fanteni off the score-sheet.

“It was no problem for me. The coach (Gavin Hunt) had one or two things to say to me about what Fanteni tends to do and after that it was business as usual,” he adds.

The Israel-bound Fanteni, on the other hand, was frustrated that he could not help the Urban Warriors to take all three points on offer.

“We played well and created many more chances – I think we were the better team on the day and deserved to win. You could see after the game that their coach was happy with the result. He ended the game with six defenders so it was obvious they had settled for the draw,” the Bafana Bafana marksman explains to Kick Off.
