Dead end again for Chiefs discard

The completion of five years back in South Africa is turning into another sad chapter for Kgaogelo Sekgota's career.

Sekgota has now marked five years since he returned from Portugal in January 2020 through a loan spell with Bidvest Wits.

That time at Wits was encouraging despite not scoring a goal in his 15 appearances.

From there, he showed flashes of brilliance at Moroka Swallows, where he scored thrice in 26 appearances during the season he spent there, which then led to a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

If Amakhosi felt they had found gold in Sekgota, it only then turned into the opposite as he left without scoring for all the 48 appearances that he was given on the wing.

Stellenbosch FC then took a gamble, but the relationship lasted only six months before player and club parted ways.

The 27-year-old played 17 games in half-a-season and scored just once but couldn't play matches from start to finish or provide assists.

Next up was a move to Betway Premiership rookies Magesi FC, where he has played nine matches without scoring and has again not been able to play even a single game from start to finish.

This means in five years back in South Africa, Sekgota has been to five clubs and scored only four goals.

Magesi now have him listed amongst the players that must make way if Owen Da Gama succeeds with bringing in new recruits during the January transfer window.

Sekgota left home before he had played any professional football locally, heading out to Lithuania, where he played for Stumbras, before switching to Vitoria Setubal in Portugal.

His time at Setubal didn't work out.
