Seema clarifies heroic Mntambo's situation

Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has provided his verdict on club captain Linda Mntambo, who struck a brace to help secure a 4-2 victory over AmaZulu FC.

Sekhukhune returned to winning form as strikes from Babina Noko's Andy Boyeli, Keletso Makgalwa and Linda Mntambo (brace) overpowered Etiosa Ighodaro and Elmo Kambindu's two for AmaZulu at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The victory was a first from their last five and helps the side keep their place in the top four of the standings.

For Mntambo, whose two goals were vital on the day, it was the 16th appearance of the season, yet only six of those were from the starting XI.

At 35, Seema understandably has opted to use the talismanic midfielder sparingly, and the former defender was quick to shoot down any suggestions of Mntambo being labelled as a 'super-sub'.

"He is not a super-sub, he is a captain who is ready to lead the team - whether it is from the bench, whether it is from home or whether it's from the starting line-up. He is a complete player.

"We don't have super subs, you can see the positivity that he has, it rubs off on the team, the energy that he has and he is helping the team.

"When the team has a problem, he comes in, he is always solving it or helping the club. So, I don't want to call him a super-sub because the day he starts, you guys will say: 'Hey, where is your super-sub?'

"So, I'm just saying that he is a true leader who leads whenever he is given time and a chance."

Mntambo and Co. next face Chippa United at Buffalo City Municipality Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
