Former coach Mlungisi "Professor" Ngubane believes the PSL's individual accolades should be spread around rather than one player winning several awards, as was the case with Patrick Maswanganyi and Ronwen Williams on Sunday.
Iqraam Rayners started 38 games in all competitions for Stellenbosch FC last season and was the go-to man for goals.
It was his efforts, among other factors, that helped the team win their first-ever major trophy in the form of Carling Knockout.

"Iqraam Rayners should have at least gotten something, like the Players' Player of the Season award. He's been scoring every game," shares Ngubane.
"That boy worked very hard last season, he was the only player who scored five goals in one game. He is the one who made a difference at Stellenbosch. He should be rewarded for his efforts.
"Why give Williams a Player of the Season [award] when you know he is going to be the Goalkeeper of the Season? The awards should be spread. For example, Patrick Maswanganyi should have been Player of the Season, and Rayners the Players' Player of the Season. But I don't know how those who voted saw things," he adds.
Ngubane explains that this should not be misconstrued as him saying the Mamelodi Sundowns net minder did not deserve the Player of the Season award, but that a situation where one player collects both the Player of the Season and the Goalkeeper of the Season must be avoided.
"He did well for Sundowns, and he did well for the national team, but it's the judges who were biased.
"Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has done well with average players, but because of the records that have been broken by Sundowns, I think Rulani Mokwena deserves the Coach of the Season award.
"[Patrick] Maswanganyi, yes, he deserves the Midfielder of the Season award, he carried Orlando Pirates this [past] season. But I don't think he should have been a big winner. I think the judging panel was too lazy to look around.
"They were too lazy to do proper research. For example, Sanele Barns from Richards Bay did well this season. Richards Bay survived relegation because of Barns. I'm not sure why he was not rewarded for his efforts if we looked into players' performances.

"But as for Rayners, he deserves something, especially the Players' Player of the Season award. He scored in every competition last season. He tormented all the PSL clubs.
"We can't have awards that are won by one player, they need to be shared amongst all top performers. They should balance things."
