With 2021 Africa Cup of Nations winner Aliou Cissé still without a job, it is now reported that the Senegalese tactician is in talks over a new role on the continent.
It is perhaps surprising to some that Cissé remains unemployed after parting ways with the Senegal national team in October 2024.
The 48-year-old vacated his role as head coach of the Lions of Teranga after his contract expired.

It was confirmed that the decision came after the country's Ministry of Sports opted against extending his contract, despite the Senegal Football Federation being willing to offer him a renewal.
Cissé was replaced by his former assistant coach, Pape Thiaw, who oversaw the final matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and ensured Senegal's qualification for the tournament in Morocco.
Now, Cissé is reportedly in negotiations for a new managerial position.
According to Sport News Africa, Cissé is in talks to become the new manager of the Libya national team.
The report claims that Cissé is currently in the Libyan capital, Benghazi, for the inauguration of a new stadium while continuing discussions with his potential employers.
Notably, Libya did not qualify for AFCON 2025.
If his appointment is confirmed soon, Cissé is expected to take charge when Libya face Angola and Cameroon in late March in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
