Garnacho ‘chooses’ next destination

With the January transfer window nearing its conclusion, Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has now made up his mind about his preferred destination.

Garnacho has been the subject of growing speculation in recent weeks, with Italian giants Napoli said to have made an approach for the Argentina international.

Napoli reportedly made a bid for the explosive winger, but United rejected it as it fell short of their £70 million (R1.5 billion) asking price.

The Naples outfit are not the only club to have shown interest in Garnacho, though, as United's rivals Chelsea are also said to be keen.

The west London side have not made a formal bid yet, although Garnacho's representatives were recently spotted at Stamford Bridge on Monday during Chelsea's 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now, according to British publication Metro, Garnacho has decided that he favours remaining in the Premier League instead of a move to Italy, despite United having held talks with Napoli this week.

The decision-makers at Old Trafford are reported to have since lowered their asking price for the 20-year-old to £54.8 million (R1.2 billion).

The report also claims that the matter now hinges on Chelsea making a formal bid, but the Blues are yet to provide anything concrete at the moment as they are also reportedly keen to sign Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel.

Garnacho has been in and out of the team since Ruben Amorim took over in November, with his form also taking a notable dip.

According to Transfermarkt, the winger has played 14 games under his new Portuguese boss, registering just one goal and one assist in the process.
