With Muhsin Ertugral having parted ways with Cape Town City on Monday, his rumoured potential successor has revealed why he could not take up any other job this season until he had permission from Scottish giants Rangers.
Ertugral and CT City parted ways on Monday by mutual agreement, just three months after he replaced Erik Tinkler in January.
The Western Cape outfit are winless in their last 11 matches in all competitions, with their last victory coming on 17 January against Richards Bay.

Diogo Peral will lead the team going forward and will be assisted by Lebogang Manyama and Roger De Sa for the remainder of this season.
Last month, SABC Sport reported that the side from the Mother City had identified a new head coach, Andries Ulderink, who would take over next season.
The Dutch tactician was also seen in attendance at Athlone Stadium during a CT City match against Golden Arrows in February.
However, at the start of March, Ulderink was hired as the coach of Belgian side Royal Antwerp for the remainder of the season, casting some doubt over the possibility of him eventually joining CT City later this year.
Ulderink, who previously worked at Ajax Cape Town between 2018 and 2020, admitted that he wasn't planning on taking any job this season before he got a call from Antwerp.
Now, according to The Scottish Sun, Ulderink suffered a kidney stone attack in November while serving as an assistant coach at Rangers.
He has now revealed that he needed permission from Rangers to resume his career in Belgium with Antwerp.
The 55-year-old told Dutch outlet Telegraaf: "I had no intention of going to work anywhere. In November and December, I was in a difficult private situation for several reasons.
"That's why I started talking to Rangers about leaving. My contract was terminated—I am grateful to the club for that—with the agreement that I would not accept a job this season and would make time for the family.
"I felt the energy returning there. The family process was also going in the right direction. But again, I had no intention of going to work anywhere. Then, when Antwerp called, everything changed."
He added: "So I called Rangers about my contractual matters, and they agreed to allow me to take the job. I decided to accept the offer."
