Tau effect? Qatar SC out of relegation zone

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau made a triumphant Qatar Stars League debut for Qatar SC, contributing to a 2-1 victory over Al-Shamal on Thursday evening.

The hosts capitalised on a numerical advantage after Al-Shamal's goalkeeper, Seck Babacar, was sent off in the 38th minute, with Atta Jaber opening the scoring for Qatar SC just before half-time.

Despite being a man down, Al-Shamal equalised in the 82nd minute through a penalty converted by Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah.

However, The South African's new side secured the win deep into stoppage time when Abdelkader converted an opportunity from the penalty spot.

This league victory lifts The King out of the relegation zone, moving them from 11th to eighth place on the table with 16 points.

Tau, who played 84 minutes before being substituted, had previously made his official debut for Qatar SC in a 5-1 defeat to Al Nasr in the Qatar-UAE Super Cup.
