Africa Cup of Nations match report Algeria v Benin

Algeria advanced to the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-0 victory over Guinea at the 30 June Stadium on Sunday evening.

Whilst cruising in to the knockout stages, Algeria retained Ismael Bennacer and Rais M'Bolhi from the win over Tanzania while Liverpool star Naby Keita missed out through injury.

Guinea looked to battle away, but were behind on 24 minutes after Youcef Belaili powered home from inside the area just minutes before he squandered a golden chance from point-blank range.

The West Africans failed to secure a come back afterwards despite launching a few threats, as the Algerians headed to the break in control.

Out for the second half, the Desert Foxes bombed forward in to advancing areas from the onset with little promise from their adversaries.

There was a moment of caution for the Algerians 10 minutes in to the second half, with M'Bolhi pushing Jose Kante's 25-yard effort out for a corner.

Within a minute, the Syli National introduced a substitution from the bench with Kante sacrificed for Bengali-Fode Koita.

Moments later, the North Africans added a second after Mahrez dropped in to the area to finish beyond Ibrahim Kone as Guinea continued to struggle with Algeria's wing-play.

With 13 minutes to go, Algeria introduced their maiden substitution appeared as Belaili made for Adam Ounas. The latter made in an instant impact with the final nail in the coffin five minutes later after combining with Youcef Atal.

Guinea looked for a consolation towards full-time, but the Algerians preserved their unbleached defensive record to head in to the last eight.
