Former Chiefs coach issues warning to Pirates

Only ever used to coming up against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby, new AmaZulu FC co-coach Arthur Zwane has issued a warning to the in-form Soweto giants ahead of their upcoming meeting in the Betway Premiership.

AmaZulu will be looking for their first win of the season when they travel to Soweto to take on Jose Riveiro's troops on Friday.

Both teams were knocked out of the Carling Knockout at the first hurdle, with the Durban side losing out to defending champions Stellenbosch fC, while Pirates were stunned by newcomers Magesi FC.

The Buccaneers, though, managed to bounce back with an impressive 2-0 league win over SuperSport United on Tuesday.

Speaking to media ahead of the fixture, Zwane is adamant his side can get a result against the MTN8 champions, drawing confidence from their spirited performance against Stellies.

"Look, we want our players to play without fear," declared the former winger.

"You can't be in the Premiership league and have a fear of winning games. We can beat anyone.

"I mean, Stellenbosch, with the quality team that they have, last week they were playing in the final, they did very well in the final, and you know, we gave them a thing or two to learn from us as well. So, it wasn't a walk in the park for them.

"When we look at where we come from and where we are now, anyone could have said: 'No, Stellenbosch are through already'.

"As much as they are through, but they know they had to dig deep to make it to the next round.

"So, there are no easy games in the PSL and we still have a lot to do in terms of trying to make sure that there is tactical flexibility in the squad, tactical understanding and tactical endurance," added Zwane.

A victory at Orlando Stadium will take Usuthu only as high as 13th in the standings, while Pirates could go back to the summit.
