Bafana completed their second day of training in Sfax on Tuesday, ahead of their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against a Libyan side that has to win to qualify for the competition. Bafana, meanwhile, just need a draw to qualify, but Baxter says they will not go out with the mentality of wanting to collect a point.
Baxter expects a Libyan side that will play with passion and emotion.
“It’s going to be a passionate and emotional type of game. I think the team that deals best with that mental situation will have a great advantage. I expect Libya to be fired up, I expect them to play very passionate football.
“It’s a difficult one for both teams, because they cannot attack us in case we sneak one and we can’t sit there and defend. So it’s going to be an interesting one to see the tactical balance between the teams. You’ll see a South African team that wants to win the game and you’ll there’s more than one way of winning the game. We certainly don’t want to just sit and play for a draw.
“We’ve studied them. Their midfield is very influential in the way they play and they have some experienced players at the back. Their big striker is a pivotal point for them. Their strength is that they are a team. They are organised and they work for each other.”
