With Themba Zwane have augmented his case to have his name written in the same sentence containing the words 'great', lifting the AFCON trophy will be the icing on the cake.
Zwane has now within two games of becoming the first player to win the AFCON having lifted both the Champions League, CAF Super Cup and the African Soccer League.

Mshishi has won trophies 10 years in a row at Mamelodi Sundowns – where he is now the longest serving player.
His trophy count at club level has the Nedbank Cup, Telkom KnockOut, MTN8, and seven league titles with number eight on its way.
Just this season, he has already played 26 games at club level and will start his 10th consecutive national team match when Bafana play Nigeria on Wednesday.
"For one to be referred to as a great, it means they are not a one season wonder or one game sensation," says 2012 AFCON winner Noah Chivuta who also played his football in the PSL.
"For me, Themba embraces greatness because of how long he has been able to perform at the top level.
"His hunger for the next game has never dropped just like his drive to achieve has never gone down just because of what he won before.
"Greatness is having the drive to feel like it is not enough and that is what you get from Themba Zwane.
"There are talented players that have been there in South African football but after winning one league title or individual accolades they tend to relax.
"They are quick to feel satisfied thinking that they have done it all.
"Great players – who I also refer to as being special – are those like Themba who still wants more regardless of that he is soon to be 35.
"He has won everything and has the right to say I can now settle down based on what he has made and what he has won but he is not showing any signs of slowing down.

"Themba is one of the greats and is an inspiration.
"He is great because once he has put in a great performance then it is done, then he moves on to the next wanting to do better.
"If Zwane had had played for Chiefs or Pirates he would have been recognised differently.
"If he had won all those league titles, the Champions League and goes on to lift the AFCON while at Chiefs then Doctor Khumalo would be forgotten.
"Themba Zwane is now on the brink of doing what is considered as the best thing to ever happen to Bafana.

"Plus, he is doing it, having won the Champions League and all these league titles which some who are considered greats never achieved.
"Themba could win the AFCON with a team that wasn't even expected to come out alive in that group," says Chivuta.
