Broos reveals plan to meet Ntseki over Chiefs 'commotion'

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed that he intends to meet Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki, following what the national team mentor insists was a misinterpretation of his remarks.

Broos landed himself in hot water with Amakhosi supporters after stating that no player in the Chiefs team deserved a call-up when asked why the club's players did not make the cut in his final 23-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo.

However, the Belgian has hit back, insisting that his words were misinterpreted and further revealed his intention to meet with Ntseki to clear the air.

"I have to be careful of what I am saying. I felt it the last few days that what you're saying is not only what you mean," Broos said when addressing journalists during a press conference held on Monday.

"There was a lot of commotion between me and Kaizer Chiefs, especially Mr. Ntseki, the coach of Kaizer Chiefs. I'm fully responsible for what I said last Wednesday, when I announced the 23 players, (and) about the players of Kaizer Chiefs.

"I said first that they don't deserve to be with the national team. When I said they don't deserve it, I didn't mean that they didn't have the skills but [that] the performances are not enough at Bafana Bafana.

"I'm responsible also for, as I said that there was nothing changed [with Chiefs], compared to last season. Kaizer Chiefs struggled all the season last year. I don't know which place in the ranking (log table) they ended but the performances were not what we can expect from Kaizer Chiefs."

"I'm not responsible for the things that someone amongst you (media) tried to put in my mouth and I didn't say, and I quote, 'Ntseki didn't change anything'. I never said that and that is very bad. And I'm really upset about that," the coach added.

"After the game against Congo DR I will go to Belgium for two weeks, after that I will contact Ntseki because I know him very well. My first idea was to have him as my assistant, but it didn't work, so then came Helman [Mkhalele] whom I am very happy with, Don't misunderstand me.

"I know that he [Ntseki] is upset because I said that [his] players don't deserve [for] now, currently, to be Bafana Bafana players because of their current performances. I didn't say he hasn't changed anything," Broos said to the media ahead of the international friendly planned for this weekend.

South Africa host Namibia at Orlando Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 15:00.
