Bafana's arrival details from AFCON confirmed

Bafana Bafana's arrival details have been confirmed following an impressive AFCON tournament where they reached the semi-finals.

Given little chance of reaching the last four, Bafana were impressive as they overcame Morocco in the last 16 before getting past Cape Verde in the quarter-final.

Their run ended with a penalty shootout defeat to Nigeria which now means they will play against DR Congo in the third place play-offs.

The South African Football Association has since communicated the details of the arrival of the national team.

"Bafana Bafana are due to leave Abidjan on Tuesday 13 February 2024 at 18h00 local time on an SAA flight via Accra," reads a statement from SAFA.

"Arrival time at OR Tambo International Airport is 04h00 (SA time) on Wednesday 14 February 2024," the federation added.

Bafana will return from the AFCON finals having earned a handsome USD2,5 million (approx. R47,33 million) for their efforts.

This is the money that both Bafana Bafana and DR Congo will get for reaching the semi-finals.

Following their AFCON showing, Bafana will also be moving up the rankings from position 66.

Meanwhile, Hugo Broos has noted that his desire was to lift the trophy.

"When you play so good and reach the semi-finals, disappointment is normal.

"The most important thing in a tournament like this is number one.

"If you are number three or four is the same," says Broos whose team will be minus Grant Kekana after he was sent off on Wednesday.
