Mashaba played for Swallows back in the 70s after leaving Orlando Pirates.

"At Orlando Preston Brothers, we had these grootmans we used to call abo Preza; there was this old man, they were brothers, they were Shembe brothers," Mashaba said.

"One of them was a cobbler, he used to mend shoes and all. So they started this club. We used to have something like six or seven divisions.

"There was this one gentleman who worked for Smirnoff, Bra Shasha, he was the rep. He used to play central defense in the senior team. Eventually, they called him Shakes.

"When he was in possession of the ball, he would do all these things [shaking his body], so now, as I grew up, I would play in his position, and I would always say to my friends, I'm Bra Shasha. And I would also do this thing of shaking my body.
