Khune: We can't keep on talking about the same thing

Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has revealed where the national team still needs to improve following the 3-0 victory over South Sudan.

Bafana ended their  2025 AFCON qualifiers campaign in emphatic fashion with a 3-0 win over South Sudan at a sold-out DHL Stadium in Cape Town via goals from Iqraam Rayners, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Teboho Mokoena (penalty).

However, that scoreline could very well have gone up to five or even six as Bafana squandered most of their scoring chances, converting just three of the nine shots on target achieved.

Speaking after the match on SABC Sport, Khune said Bafana should have shown more grit in front of goal.

"I think the guys did extremely well, especially playing close to one another because it gave us an advantage," the 36-year-old said.

"You saw towards the end of the second half, we had so many numbers inside the box trying to get the fourth and fifth goals, which couldn't come. I'm happy that we were able to counter-press when we lost the ball.

"But again, I think we should have been more clinical because we can't keep on talking about the same thing over and over. We can't come into a game thinking: 'Oh, we've beaten them 3-0 last time, so it should be easy'.

"I think we should have been more clinical and send a message to our future opponents."
