Mzansi football great Mlungisi "Professor" Ngubane has expressed misgivings about the selection of one little-known player on these shores in the latest Bafana Bafana preliminary squad, whilst questioning Ashley Cupido's omission.
The 23-year-old scored seven times in 28 appearances for the Urban Warriors last season.
On Tuesday, Broos announced a 38-man squad that still has to be reduced to at least 23 players ahead of the FIFA international week stretching from 2 to 10 September.

South Africa face off against Uganda on 6 September at Loftus Versfeld, before getting on a plane to South Sudan for a fixture against that nation's football side four days later.
The Belgian mentor has included 22-year-old Netherlands-born centre-forward Simon Van Duivenbooden in his squad, a curious selection to some, including Ngubane.
"I have looked at the players selected in the preliminary squad by Hugo Broos, and some of them I have never heard of," the ex-ball wizard fires off, speaking to KickOff.
"You can't tell me in a country with a population of over 62 million people, you can't find a good striker. They are either lazy to look around or scared to give other players a chance.
"If Duivenbooden is a South African, then they must explain how so? As long as they don't bring us abo [the likes of] Chidimma [Adetshina]. But I don't think they would have selected him if he didn't qualify to be a South African. If he is better than what we have in the country, then it's fine," he continues.
Ngubane points out to the abilities of Cupido, saying he needs be groomed to eventually become the go-to man for Bafana goals in future.
"I feel he is the only player that is missing in this preliminary squad. The boy is a natural striker. Brilliant left foot, he's got pace, he's strong, powerful, he can play, he's a complete striker. You will see his true potential if he can play alongside talented and smart players.
"The likes of Teboho Mokoena and Themba Zwane can make him shine. I'm surprised the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are not talking about him.

"Sometimes you must sign a player because he's got room for improvement, not because he is a complete player. That's the reason we have coaches, by the way.
"But you know our clubs, they will only start chasing Cupido when he is worth R20 million. I believe the boy is strong and is built for international football. He's got pace, and he can score goals. As a country, we need to give that boy a chance."
