Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has been singled out as having the ability to stand his ground amongst some of the world's best goalkeepers.
Williams stood out with five clean sheets in seven games playing every minute of Bafana Bafana's seven games.

What he showed at the AFCON is basically what Williams has been delivering at Mamelodi Sundowns where he has kept clean sheets in two thirds of the games that he has played for the champions.
"For me, Williams is the best keeper to ever come from South Africa," argues former University of Pretoria and Maritzburg United goalkeeper Dominic Sithole.
"I say Williams is the best because he has all the attributes needed from a top keeper.
"Shot stopper, he is good.
"He has good feet that allow him to play the ball and is comfortable with both left and right.

"There have been some good keepers in the past like Itumeleng Khune, Brian Baloyi, Emille Baron, and Andre Arendse but not all these keepers ticked all the boxes at top level.
"Itu was good but never had Ronwen's composure is up the level as was evidenced by his ability to save so many penalties.
"Williams knows how to calm down the game and when to start counter attacks.
"He knows when and how to play the ball to his defenders, and he is not scared of starting play from the back.

"Itu was tops with distribution, but Ronwen can do the same.
"The difference is that Itu didn't play the ball from the back to the same effect as Ronwen.
"With crosses, Ronwen he has unbelievable hands in that if he comes out for a cross, he doesn't drop it.
"I'm yet to see him drop a cross plus his timing is good as he knows when to come out for the catch.
"I have been surprised that Ronwen is still playing in South Africa when he has reason to be considered amongst some of the best in the world.
"I have seen keepers with half his abilities in some of the European leagues.

"Ronwen commands respect from his defenders and can see that whenever he is playing his defenders have confidence in him.
"It wasn't surprising for me that he was voted the best playing against the best from the continent.
"I feel Ronwen is up there with the likes of Ederson and Alisson.
"If you put Ronwen in that Manchester City team, he will flourish any day, all day because he is so calm and composed, a good shot-stopper, and is not afraid to come out with his glove for a cross in traffic.

"I will vouch for him as the best out of those that I have watched from South Africa who include Hans Vonk who didn't have Ronwen's footwork.
"Rownen is comfortable with both feet and doesn't panic," says Sithole.
