Klate: Pirates must score first against Uganda Revenue Authority

Pirates depart for Kampala on Thursday carrying a 2-1 advantage from the first leg.

And Klate, who moved back to SuperSport United on loan during the January transfer window, believes Bucs have enough experience from their CAF Champions League campaign to see off their hosts.

“I haven’t been to Uganda, but I don’t think there’s a more hostile environment than TP Mazembe,” Klate tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“The 2-1 scoreline is a dangerous one, but most of the players and technical staff from that Lubumbashi trip is still there and will know what needs to be done [in Kampala].

“The key will be to go there and score first, so that they can defend well so that the home side don’t get a sniff at a possible comeback.

“We went to Mazembe and defied all odds by defending well, so with the experience [Pirates] have in the team, they shouldn’t have a problem,” he adds.

Klate, who helped the Soweto-based side reach the Champions League Final in 2013, says Pirates have an added advantage with strikers Kermit Erasmus and Lehlohonolo Majoro to lead the line in order to get the early goal for the visitors.

“Now they have Kermit and Majoro to help up front, so I don’t think there should be any reason for a major upset in Uganda,” concludes the experienced winger.
