Khanyisa Mayo has signed a new contract with Cape Town City after a finishing DStv Premiership joint-top goal scorer, a blow for Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns who have had their eye on the talismanic attacker.
City confirmed on Tuesday that the 24-your-old had penned a fresh three-year-deal that ties him to the Citizens until 2028, very likely ruling him out of a transfer away from Cape Town in the upcoming transfer window.
Mayo's new deal also means Chiefs, Sundowns and interested parties will now have to dig even deeper in their pockets to convince City to part ways with their star player.

The attacker has been the major catalyst behind City's push for a top four finish this season, contributing 13 goal and two assists from 35 appearances across all competitions.
Amakhosi had viewed Mayo as the perfect candidate to solve their goal scoring scoring woes, that have seen them score just twice in their last five matches.

Chiefs interest in Mayo was confirmed by club sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr, who warned that the deal would only be possible if City also have to willing to sell.
"Again, I'm talking about players that are contracted to other teams, so I don't want to overstep the respect I have for the leadership of those teams," Motaung said on Radio2000 in April.
"But when it comes down to someone like [Khanyisa] Mayo, great talent, but of course [it has to be a case of] willing buyer, willing seller."
"I think the last conversation that was had, Mr Comitis outright told us that he is not willing to sell Mayo right now [at the time] and that's out there for public consumption."
Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana has also advised the attacker to stay at City for at least one more season.
As history would suggest though, Mayo's new deal does not completely rule out a transfer away from City. After all, Given Msimango signed a new deal with TS Galaxy at the start of the season before making the switch to Chiefs just a season into his new contract.
Amakhosi have also already concluded the signing City's Mduduzi Mdantsane, who will join up with his new teammates at the start of July.
