Spurs promise Chiefs repeat of Galaxy v Downs

Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou promises to leave the DStv Premiership in style come Saturday, with their opponents Kaizer Chiefs needing to win at all costs to salvage what's left of their battered and bruised season.

Efstathiou says the pride at stake makes this weekend's match all the more important for the Urban Warriors.

Already relegated, Spurs have nothing to lose, while Amakhosi are looking to squeeze into the Top Eight.

"We're still trying to pass all this. We still have one more game, so we're focused on this game," Efstathiou tells this website.

He adds, "We have to be professional, we can't just go there and [just] kick the ball. We have to go there for pride. It is so important to perform at the highest level in our last game, and then after that, we decide our way forward.

The chief executive is salivating at the prospect of a sold-out encounter, even if it's their last in the topflight before trying to make their way back, via the Motsepe Foundation Championship, next season.

"I think it's going to be a sold-out affair the way tickets are going. If you are a Cape Town football lover, then you should be at the game on Saturday.

"If I was living in Cape Town, I wouldn't miss this match. We are at Cape Town Stadium, so there are limited tickets available. I'm sure by tomorrow [Friday], they will  be sold out."

"Efstathiou adds that Spurs will take the game to the Glamour Boys in search of a positive result, even if for academic reasons.

"We respect Kaizer Chiefs and we love them as a team, but in that 90 minutes, we're not going to love them that much. It will be something similar to what we saw the other night between TS Galaxy and [Mamelodi] Sundowns. It was an intense football match.

"That's the type of football the South African public deserves. We mustn't forget that football is also part of entertainment.
