Chippa keen on Makume

Chippa United are keen on bringing in defender Bonginkosi Makume to bolster their defence this season.

The 27-year-old defender is a free agent after parting ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Maritzburg United.

Makume joined Maritzburg last season after spending three seasons with Baroka FC. Ironically both teams are now playing in the Championship.

Makume worked with Chilli Boys coach Morgan Mammila at Bakgakga before the team was relegated to the lower division.

"Chippa is interested and has already made contact. The talks are set to resume again with a view of signing the player this season," said the source close to Chippa United.

The Chilli Boys have added Craig Martin, Augustine Mulenga, and Luvuyo Memela amongst other new signings for this season.

The Morgan Mammila-led side currently sit in 12th spot on the DStv premiership table with only one win after six games.

They travel to Durban to face Richards Bay in their next league match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on September 19.

Meanwhile, Vusimuzi Vilakazi has arrived at Gqeberha to start his tenure as Head Technical Director at Chippa United. Vilakazi took the football fraternity by surprise when resigned from Golden Arrows the past weekend.
