Mammila reveals what he told Chiefs target

Chippa United head coach Morgan Mammila has revealed what he told Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili, who is being strongly linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

Nwabili has been impressive for the Chilli Boys this season after struggling for game-time in his first season after joining from Katsina United in 2022.

His great performances this season have seen him attracting interest from the Soweto giants. Chiefs are currently thin in the goalkeeping department following the suspension of club captain Itumeleng Khune.

Amakhosi currently have Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen, and Khune as recognized first-team goalkeepers and will surely be looking to add at least one experienced goalie in the next transfer window.

So far the 27-year-old shot-stopper Nwabili has managed to keep 7 clean sheets in the 13 Premier League appearances he made this season.

"To be honest at this stage I haven't seen anything, my chairman hasn't told me anything about the offer," Mammila tells KickOff.

"My job is to prepare them so that they can be seen out there, and to be honest so far so good. I'm happy with the performances of plus-minus six to seven players and I won't be surprised if we lose them to bigger clubs.

"I'm prepared to play the second round without Nwabili, I told him at the beginning of the season that I'm preparing him to leave the club. I made it clear from day one, hence he started more matches than Lloyd Junior Kazapua.

"Nwabili is a top keeper, don't be surprised if he plays in the AFCON in January."

Mammila says he will be to looking strengthen his squad with one or two players in the next few weeks.

"You know it's a norm to get one or two players when the January window comes just to shake things up a bit in your team. But of course, you only need to sign what you need, you don't have to sign more than two players."
